The Israeli NSO Group was named in Time’s 2022 list of the 100 most influential companies in the world. But their success has been marred by allegations that their surveillance software (called Pegasus) was used to spy on journalists, activists -and political leaders. Allegations that it was, and is, a tool for dictators. NSO Group denies the allegations and says its customers are carefully screened. NSO Group says they only sell their spyware for use against criminals and terrorists.The problem, of course, is who gets to decide who is a criminal or terrorist.
