Halloween 2023

While working on today’s cartoon I had the TV on in the background.

I caught a news video of a mob of Russians breaking into a Russian airport,smashing past Russian police to take over the runway where a plane from Tel Aviv had landed. They were screaming for Jewish blood while terrified passengers remained on the plane.

I went back to sketching and doodling and trying to come up with a cartoon when I caught another news video.

It was a mob of students in America, at a major American University, screaming for Jewish blood while terrified Jewish students watched from their windows.

The scenes were simply unbelievable.
I looked at the calendar. October 31. It’s Halloween!
Today’s cartoon had become obvious.

Time Tunnel

The Israel that was attacked by Hamas on Oct 7 is not the Israel that we now live in.

Antonio Guterres is Secretary General of the United Nations. His public response to the Hamas Oct 7 Atrocity was to justify the slaughter of Israelis by reciting a stream of pitiful excuses and outrageous explanations.

The Modern Dilemma

The Hamas war is Iran's war against the modern world. It was long-planned, but the trigger that set it off was the blossoming of Israeli "normalization" with the Saudis.

The cartoon asks if the leaders are afraid of mass anti-Jewish violence on their streets. The answer is yes. Obviously.

GENERATIONS

Welded Together

The Hamas atrocity has traumatized us all. A country that enjoyed the luxury of constant squabbling has been welded together by the images of a pogrom. Here in Israel?! Fighting a Satanic Cult

The question posed by the interviewer in the cartoon is based on his assumption that there is a land dispute between Israel and Hamas, with an innocent Gazan population in peril.

Not true.

Hamas is dedicated to the genocide of the Jews. It is a deeply held religious belief. We face a demonic force that must be exorcized.

Unfortunately we can't cure the carefully groomed hatred that now lives in the hearts of the people of Gaza. But we can, and we must, drive this satanic cult out of Gaza.

Jewish organizations have, for years, battled the Holocaust Deniers. I wonder how soon after the world saw the horrifying Concentration Camp photos did evil people begin claiming that it didn't happen. When did Holocaust Denial start?

Israel has called on Palestinians to “evacuate to southern Gaza for their safety” during the war against Hamas.

In response, Hamas is demanding civilians ignore the warning, calling them “fake” and stopping would-be evacuees from leaving Gaza City.

Hamas and the Hogs

For some time, the city of Haifa has been plagued by packs of wild pigs. Apparently, they are big and hairy and scary. A friend who, with his wife, had relocated to Haifa, called me several weeks ago to ask for help in finding a new apartment. When I asked why he was unhappy with his new life in Haifa he confided that he was “afraid of the pigs.”

Meanwhile, the terrible traumatic Hamas attack happened, with the ensuing pursuing and “neutralizing” of terrorist infiltrators. And so it was that I thought of a “solution” to the problem of the pigs in Haifa.

Pop-up Hate Fests

Ever Again

After The Second World War we reacted to the Nazi horrors by trying to convince ourselves, and the rest of the world, that the "Holocaust" had been a "crime against humanity" instead of the expression of an ages-old and unique war to destroy the Jewish people.

Why This War

The Saudi move to "Normalize" relations and build a new Middle East, based on peace and cooperation with Israel, was in full bloom. The promise of the new Saudi city of Neom, being built just south of Israel, along with the expanding Abraham Accords was exciting.

And so the Iranian-backed Hamas masters of Gaza launched their invasion to block the progress and teach the Saudis "Who is the boss".

And so we're in a war. And the best we can expect from our Abraham Accord allies is for them to remain silent.
Because that's the way it is.

The Torah Dance

It's Simchat Torah, and one aspect of this "Joy in the Torah" holiday is the tradition of dancing while holding the Torah.

In Chabad Hasidic thought, the dancing with the Torah allows the Jew to symbolically act as the "feet" of the Torah. For hasn't it been our mission to carry the Torah and its teachings to the farthest corners of our dispersion?

So the dance is either a simple act of joy or it's a deep and serious metaphor for our "Light unto the Natons" task.
Or maybe both.

A Sukkot Tradition.

An important part of our annual Jerusalem march on Sukkot is the many Christians from around the world who participate.

The International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ) holds a Feast of Tabernacles on Sukkot every year. This year's event has brought about 3,000 Christians from more than 80 nations, including groups from Egypt, Turkey and as far away as Fiji, where a specially chartered flight from Fiji Airways made its first-ever landing at Ben-Gurion International Airport just in time to bring in a contingent of Fijiin Christian supporters of Israel who will, of course, be marching (along with Israeli participants) in this, our 68th annual Jerusalem March .

After hours of watching TV coverage of massive public demonstrations both in Israel and abroad, including interviews with the “Let’s wash our laundry in public crowd,” I’d had enough!

Time Out

In Israel we are now in our annual "Holiday/Half Holiday" period, in which pretty much everything slows down, or is postponed.

It started with Rosh Hashanah.
When "the Holidays" are over, we will have been recharged.
We will be ready to face 5784,
and whatever it might bring.

Dare to Dream

Two facts and a conclusion:

1.) Neom.The Saudis are now building a giant futuristic city on the Red Sea coast. It is south of Israel and across from Sinai. It is called Neom and is part of the Crown Prince's Vision 2030 plan. It covers an area of more than 10,000 square miles, (about the same size as Massachusetts.

2.) On 8 June 2022, the Saudi-Government controlled newspaper Al Arabiya News published a plan for uniting the Palestinian Arabs and the Kingdom of Jordan in a new entity which would live in peace with the State of Israel. It would be called the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine.

Conclusion: It seems obvious to me that this new Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine would have an important resource. Its largely unemployed and overcrowded population.
A Saudi city the size of Neom is going to import a massive number of workers who would/could find homes and employment there. The News media has largely ignored Neom and everyone's been silent on the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine solution, but I (like MBS) dare to dream.
