Not Just Another Pretty Face

   There have been many memorial services for the victims of Oct.7 over the last few days. It seems to me, that most of the memorial services outside of Israel have been marred by demonstrators and hecklers shouting out things like "Long live Hamas", and "Free Palestine", and turning on it's head just who were the victims and who were the attackers on this day. I came across this cartoon of Yaakov's last night from 2009 and it seemed appropriate.

October 7, 2023

Here in Israel we are having memorials for the terrible day of October 7, 2023. Our world and our reality as Jews changed that day. We are still fighting that war and that reality. 

Here is a cartoon that Yaakov did about the terrible situation in 2023. Also, these are his words:

 The Oct 7 Hamas pogrom has changed us.

And it smashed our youngsters with an explosive and frightening reality.

How will they deal with their Post Traumatic Stress?

What will they be like as adults?

What will their Israel be like?

"Never Again" is a great slogan. But "In every generation they rise up to destroy us" was, and is, a warning to be taken seriously.

The kites from Gaza to southern Israel

 It has been longer than 2 weeks, but this Dry Bones cartoon was from 2018 and still true.

In theory, we have a ceasefire with Gaza. But they have not relinquished any of their weapons, as they were supposed to. The kites that are recently drifting into Israel from Gaza seem harmless. These new kites are not armed with incendiary devices (yet) But Israelis remember what happened when terrorists used them in 2018 and after, burning thousands of acres, killing wildlife, and causing millions of dollars in damage. Many think that this is just a trial attempt to start that again, but to start in a very innocent seeming way. So I am posting this cartoon from 2018. Love, Sali

Here in Israel, we are getting ready for the new school year to start. The malls are filled with booths for school supplies, the local political campaigns are swinging into high gear with lots of promises the will probably not be kept, and we still have no idea what our situation with Hamas, Hizballah, Turkey, Iran and all of the Gulf states will look like in the near future.
