Halloween 2023

While working on today’s cartoon I had the TV on in the background.

I caught a news video of a mob of Russians breaking into a Russian airport,smashing past Russian police to take over the runway where a plane from Tel Aviv had landed. They were screaming for Jewish blood while terrified passengers remained on the plane.

I went back to sketching and doodling and trying to come up with a cartoon when I caught another news video.

It was a mob of students in America, at a major American University, screaming for Jewish blood while terrified Jewish students watched from their windows.

The scenes were simply unbelievable.
I looked at the calendar. October 31. It’s Halloween!
Today’s cartoon had become obvious.

Time Tunnel

The Israel that was attacked by Hamas on Oct 7 is not the Israel that we now live in.
We have been changed. The Atrocity, the UN's vile reaction to it, and the massive and frightening anti-Jewish rallies staged in major cities and on major campuses has been hard to swallow.

And everything is moving so quickly.
The past seems so long ago.

After hours of watching TV coverage of massive public demonstrations both in Israel and abroad, including interviews with the “Let’s wash our laundry in public crowd,” I’d had enough!

Could I get a laugh out of the depressing situation?

Here Comes the Judge

Waiting for the "verdict" from Israel's Supreme Court Judges reminded me of an old comedy routine called "Here Comes the Judge" by a vaudeville comedian named Pigmeat Markham. The routine became a comedy classic and was redone and revived by a string of great American Comedians during the early days of American Television. I haven't thought of it for years. Until now.

These Days

These are the days that Jews are supposed to be preparing to be judged during the coming High Holy Days for the sins we did during the past year. It is both bizarre and yet somehow appropriate that the Jewish State should, at this time, be so totally consumed with an argument about our supreme court.
