Nasrallah's Bunker

I was surprised to discover that a number of readers did not know about Nasrallah's underground life . . . i.e. that Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has been living underground for almost five years now, in fear for his life. So if you don't know the details, here they are according to a special YNet report:

"Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has been living underground for almost five years now, in hideouts that are little known. A fugitive who fears for his life and is committed to his Iranian patrons, he stays deep inside the soil that he claims to have liberated from the Israelis. Nobody knows his whereabouts with the exception of a small group of bodyguards.

Senior officials who wish to meet him and even representatives of Iran's Revolutionary Guards do it at a central bunker; Nasrallah arrives for such sessions under heavy security and a veil of secrecy. The views regarding his hideout the rest of the time are inconclusive.

An Israeli intelligence official estimates that Nasrallah leads a life similar to that of a wanted terror suspect in the territories. He sleeps at various sites, meets his family infrequently, and runs his guerrilla empire via decoded technology provided by the Iranians."-more

Egyptian Worries

It is sad that decades of peace with Israel were not used by the Egyptian government to combat anti-Semitism and demonization of Israel.

Egyptian authorities have now been forced to recognize the seriousness of the Iranian threat to the stability of their country. A viral threat which is based on that same demonization of the Jews and of the Jewish State.

* * * Excepts from a report by Middle East Online headlined "Egypt press blasts Nasrallah as 'war criminal'"

"CAIRO - The Egyptian press on Sunday slammed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah as a 'war criminal who' should be put on trial. . . "A criminal who knows no mercy" cried the blood-red headline in the state-owned Al-Gomhuria which reserved the whole of its front page for an editorial bashing Nasrallah, repeatedly referring to him as "Sheikh Monkey."

"Sheikh Monkey, we will not allow you to belittle our judicial symbols, for you are a highway robber, a pure criminal who has killed his own people but we will not allow you to threaten the peace and security of Egypt," editor Mohammed Ali Ibrahim wrote.

"You and your gang are terrorists and soon... the public prosecutor will issue details of an investigation into your terrorist organisation," he said.

Al-Ahram newspaper, which is also state-owned, said Nasrallah's admission that Hezbollah is operating in Egypt provided grounds for prosecution.

"The admission by (Nasrallah) of sending agents into Egypt... puts him at the forefront of accusations and requires dealing with him under Egyptian law, or international law and issuing an (Interpol) red notice for his arrest," said editorial writer Ahmed Mussa." -more

Who Do You Trust?

According to Israel National News today is a special day:

World Jewry Marks 8,000th Day of Jonathan Pollard's Imprisonment

(IsraelNN.com) Justice For Jonathan Pollard (J4JP), an organization established to publicize the facts of the case and promote efforts for his release, says that these 8,000 days represent nearly 22 years of "abandonment and betrayal by Israel, cynical exploitation as a political prisoner by the USA, and cruel and unusual punishment by the 'greatest democracy in the world.'"

More sharply, J4JP accuses the "same Israeli government officials responsible for betraying him at the outset" of "patiently[ly] wait[ing] for 'time and nature' to be the 'final solution' to the Pollard case, G-d forbid!"

This period of 8,000 days in captivity renders Jonathan Pollard the longest-held Israeli captive who is known for certain to still be alive. Only Yehuda Katz, Tzvi Feldman and Zechariah Baumel, who were captured by the Syrians 25 years ago in the 1982 Peace for Galilee War, have been in captivity longer than him - and there is no certainty that they are alive.

Possibly to mark the occasion, President Shimon Peres - who was Prime Minister when Pollard was arrested - said today that at one point, a deal for Pollard's release was nearly consummated, but was thwarted at the last moment by the CIA. He did not say when this happened, nor did he provide other details." -more

Meet Mr. History

Most of us are way too young to remember 1938. That's why I decided to come up with a new character. Mr. History. Problem is, that as a cartoon character he's funnier if he doesn't remember history. In this case he does not remember Neville Chamberlain. The Tony Blair of 1938.

So the story goes like this. The Nazis wanted "The return of Occupied Territories" (German speaking areas) which were part of Czechoslovakia. The Czechoslovakians, pressured on all sides, had "agreed" to exchange "Land for Peace". So the Brits sent their then Prime Minister to the region to work out the details with Adolf Hitler.

In explaining the "Peace" agreement he had secured in the region, (which led to the massive loss of life in WW2) Chamberlain said :

"We did not go there to decide whether the predominantly German areas in the Sudetenland should be passed over to the German Reich. That had been decided already. Czechoslovakia had accepted the Anglo-French proposals. What we had to consider was the method, the conditions and the time of the transfer of the territory. The second point to remember is that time was one of the essential factors. All the elements were present on the spot for the outbreak of a conflict which might have precipitated the catastrophe. We had populations inflamed to a high degree; we had extremists on both sides ready to work up and provoke incidents; we had considerable quantities of arms which were by no means confined to regularly organised forces. Therefore, it was essential that we should quickly reach a conclusion, so that this painful and difficult operation of transfer might be carried out at the earliest possible moment and concluded as soon as was consistent, with orderly procedure, in order that we might avoid the possibility of something that might have rendered all our attempts at peaceful solution useless. . . ."
