Baghdadi is Dead!According to Time:The Islamic State group is mourning the death of its leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and has announced a successor in a new audio release. The group identified the new leader as Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi in the audio released Thursday by the IS central media arm, al-Furqan Foundation.-moreNote: "Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi" is believed to be a "nomme du guerre" and not his real name.

The 16th century story is that Rabbi Judah Loew ben Bezalel, also known as the Maharal, created a man (a Golem) out of clay to defend the Jews of Prague from anti-Semitic attacks. The Golem became an uncontrollable mindless monster and the Maharal had to "deactivate" him. Seems to me that Bernie needs to be "deactivated". Back when I was a kid in Brooklyn, one of my favorite newspaper comic strip heroes was Dick Tracy. In our Sunday newspaper's "funny pages" supplement Dick Tracy was a full-page feature. Tracy's enemies were a bizarre set of weird characters, a few that I remember were Flat Top, Prune Face, and Mumbles.At the top of the cartoon page, above that Sunday's exciting comic strip adventure, was a small panel called "Crime Stoppers." These crime-fighting tips made me feel like I was part of the fight against evil-doers.Seventy years have slipped by since I was a 11 year-old boy in Brooklyn reading Dick Tracy. I'm now an 81 year-old cartoonist in Israel watching the outrageous and criminal assault on our civilization by a bizarre set of weird villains. So I've decided to maybe start a feature like Dick Tracy's Crime Stoppers. I call it Dry Bones' Know your Foe. It'll focus on the grotesque set of weird characters we need to stop. Baghdadi is Dead!According to the BBC:The fugitive leader of the Islamic State (IS) group has been killed in a US military operation in northwest Syria, President Donald Trump has said.Speaking from the White House, Mr Trump said Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi detonated his suicide vest after fleeing into a tunnel, chased by US military dogs.Baghdadi came to prominence in 2014, when he announced the creation of a "caliphate" in areas of Iraq and Syria.IS carried out multiple atrocities that resulted in thousands of deaths.The jihadist group imposed a brutal rule on almost eight million people and was behind many attacks around the world. The US declared the "caliphate" defeated earlier this year although IS militants remain active in the region and elsewhere.The killing of Baghdadi is a major victory for Mr Trump, who has been heavily criticised for his decision to pull US troops out of northern Syria earlier this month and is fighting an impeachment inquiry launched by Democrats.
