The story, according to the JTA:

French publishing house pulps kids’ paper claiming Israel ‘not a real country’

One of France’s oldest publishing houses announces the recall of a magazine for children featuring trivia game cards stating that Israel and North Korea are not real countries. The cards that appeared in the January 2018 edition of the Youpi magazine, which belongs to the Groupe Bayard publishing house, read: “197: We call these 197 countries states, like France, Germany or Algeria. There are others, too, but not all the world’s countries agree that all of them are real countries (for example the State of Israel or North Korea.”)

CRIF, the federation of Jewish communities and organizations of France, protested the publication of the cards. Francis Kalifat, the president of CRIF, called the cards, intended for children aged 5-10, a “factual lie and a flagrant one at that.”

Pascal Ruffenach, the president of the Bayard publishing house, which was founded in the 19th century, said in a statement that his establishment “clearly never intended to cast into doubt Israel’s existence,” saying the card in question was an “error.”
The publishing house said it will recall the magazines and pulp the cards in question.

They Drove Us Out

* * * Twenty five years ago I wrote a graphic novel called Trees, the Green Testament.
It was heralded as a book of prophecy and I was described as a prophet.
I was no less frightened than the prophet Jonah. He tried to escape the burden of his calling. What he did was to flee on a boat from the city of Jaffa. His attempt was thwarted by his being swallowed by a “great fish.”

I fled from my burden by turning my back on the book, getting on with cartooning, and ignoring the public’s demand for the book.

Now, as I approach the age of eighty, I recognize the error of my cowardly decision.
I am punished by seeing a world in which the Ten Commandments are a threat instead of a guide.
I am shaken by seeing Diaspora Jews condemning the Jewish State.
I am crushed by seeing Christian Churches accepting Replacement Theology, abandoning Israel, and ignoring the genocide of Christians in Africa and the Middle East.
I am horrified by the antisemitism of western colleges and universities.

Now, as I approach the age of eighty, I have republished Trees in an annotated edition (the original but enhanced by explanations of much of the book’s hidden messages.)

UN anti-Jerusalem Vote

According to the Guardian:

Trump threatens to cut aid to countries over UN Jerusalem vote

Donald Trump has threatened to withhold “billions” of dollars of US aid from countries which vote in favour of a United Nations resolution rejecting the US president’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

His comments came after the US ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, wrote to about 180 of 193 member states warning that she will be “taking names” of countries that vote for a general assembly resolution on Thursday critical of the announcement which overturned decades of US foreign policy.

Speaking at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Trump amplified Haley’s threat. “Let them vote against us,” he said. “We’ll save a lot. We don’t care. But this isn’t like it used to be where they could vote against you and then you pay them hundreds of millions of dollars,” he said. “We’re not going to be taken advantage of any longer.” -- more

Dry Bones Predicts

Permit me to share my insights into what I believe is a major change in Middle East realities.

First The Past.
In 1948 the Kingdom of Jordan invaded, occupied, and ruled Judea and Samaria and the city of Jerusalem. They held it for 19 years (until the six-day war in 1967). There was no Arab/Muslim move to give the area to the local Arab population. During those same 19 years Gaza was ruled by Egypt, again with no thought of giving the area to local Arabs.

Local Arabs back then had loyalties to the local regions where they lived. They were not "Palestinians".
They identified themselves as Hebronites, Jerusalemites, Bethlehemites, Gazans, etc. Calling the local Arabs "Palestinians" was a clever ploy in the battle to destroy the Jewish state. Instead of the Arab/Israeli conflict (with little Israel facing a massive alliance of enemy Arab states), the new paradigm was the Israeli/Palestinian conflict (with a weak "Palestinian" population facing a powerful Israel).

Now the Present.
But there's been a fundamental change in Middle East realities. The Sunni Arab governments and the State of Israel now face the threat of a common and powerful enemy. Our region is being invaded by the Iranian Shi'ites and their proxies. The "Palestinians" are now a hindrance to the natural alliance of Sunni Arab governments and the State of Israel.

And The Future.
I believe that the Sunni Arab governments will dump the "Palestinian" cause and accept Jerusalem as Israel's capital and holy city. As shown in today's cartoon I predict that the "Palestinian"cause will stay alive in the hearts and minds of American Leftist Jews, in the sermons of the Replacement Theology Christian Churches, and the propaganda pronouncements of the Iranian Shi'ite enemy.

MUSLIM SCHOOL in UK RECEIVES "INADEQUATE" RATING BECAUSE TOILETS DID NOT HAVE TOILET PAPER FOR "CULTURAL REASONS" A Muslim girls’ school has received the lowest rating available after inspectors discovered that pupils were not provided with lavatory paper for “cultural reasons”.

Staff at the fee-paying Park Avenue Girls’ High School, in Stoke-on-Trent, said paper was available from the school office, but because most of the students were Asian, they preferred to wash rather than wipe. -more

The conditions of Jonathan Pollard’s parole (after he served 30 years of a life sentence) include a curfew that confines him to his Manhattan home from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. preventing him from attending his synagogue and require him to submit any computer, including an employer’s, for inspection. He must also wear a GPS-monitoring device that forces him, as an observant Jew, to violate the Sabbath.. Pollard, 62, must also remain in the US for another five years, despite his having served a longer sentence for spying for an ally than anyone in US history. On April 6, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow issued a statement which should have led to extensive Israeli diplomatic efforts all over the world. The sensational part of the announcement is that Russia is the first country in the world to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in an official statement, signed by the president.

Granted, it’s only a recognition of the western part of the city, alongside a statement that the eastern part of the city will be the capital of the Palestinian state when that state is established, but still, the statement as is stands as a significant development, and also a surprising one, in light of the identity of the country making the statement (Russia) and a rare diplomatic opportunity to receive similar recognition from many other countries. In a normal country, the Israeli Foreign Ministry would have turned this statement into a major PR campaign. -more
