We are having very stormy, wet weather here in Israel this week, but it will pass. And rain is good or the farmers.

But storms on other fronts...The internal Israeli political scene has gone from bad to worse on so many different fronts this past week. I am hoping that it will be better soon. I was looking for an up and funny cartoon for today, but I came upon this one instead and it seemed to fit. You are welcome to share.

The UN and UNRWA

Last week the UN voted to keep funding UNRWA for another 3 years, even though it has been proven that they were encouraging and helping Hamas. They have kept the about 700,000 Palestinians who were displaced in 1948 as permanent refugees even until the 3rd generation. Now UNRWA defines almost 6 million as permanent refugees, fueling violence and hardship. They have created 30,000 jobs for themselves by doing this. Now, they are angry that Israel is not allowing them an office in Jerusalem.

The Smiling Optimist

 Dry Bones Golden Oldie, by Sali the LSW. (Long Suffering Wife). Here is a Dry Bones cartoon from 2015 called, "The Smiling Optimist". Yaakov was always the optimist and I was always the pessimist. I thought of it as being a realist. But it is time for some optimism for our future. But I always thought that Shuldig's smile here was a bit uncertain. Yaakov had a knack for giving so much expression with just a small line or wiggle in the line.

Europe is Lost

I used to argue with Yaakov to not draw ugly characters because people would not want to share them, but he did as he saw and wanted. As we move into the Holiday season, I keep hearing about European Christmas markets that are vandalized and terrorized. I am sad over the situation. This cartoon was from 11 years ago, and is even more true today. You are welcome to share, even if it is not a cute or pretty image.

The once Proud Nations of Europe

It is sad that this is true today, even more, and that now serious antisemitism has become part of the mix. In Ireland the Dublin City Council is re-naming the park that is named after a native son of Ireland and a hero of World War 2 against the Germans, and the 6th President of Israel, Chaim Herzog to be re-named "free Palestine" Park.

Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow, Nov. 27th

 Dry Bones Golden Oldie, by Sali the LSW. (Long Suffering Wife) Here is a Dry Bones cartoon from 1996. Thanksgiving is almost the one major, family get together type holiday in America that the Jews can fully participate in, and we are very Thankful and happy about that.

 Happy Thanksgiving for tomorrow November 27th.  I have much to be thankful for. And I hope to be able to keep alive some of the Dry Bones spirit to keep up Yaakov's desire to help the Jewish People survive and thrive.

and ... here is a second cartoon for the holiday from 2013. This year, the 2 holidays do not exactly fall together but, here in Israel, all the bakeries are already selling "Sufganiot", (jelly doughnuts), the Israeli and Sephardic version of "Latkes". They both use a lot of oil to cook, which is maybe why they are traditional Hannukah foods.

Update: The orthopedic doctor says that my rib is probably broken, but that there is no point in wasting time to do an x-ray since there is nothing to be done but wait for time to heal. But I am actually feeling much better, so maybe it is just a bruise. I gave a very successful art lesson and lecture yesterday, and am doing another, now to be weekly lesson, to a smaller group today.
