And I thought he was going to talk about, you know, Iran, maybe Hamas. He said, ‘It’s The New York Times and Haaretz.’ He said, ‘They set the agenda for an anti-Israel campaign all over the world. Journalists read them every morning and base their news stories … on what they read in The New York Times and Haaretz'."Linde said he and other participants at the meeting asked Netanyahu whether he really thought that the media had that strong a role in shaping world opinion on Israel, and the prime minister replied, “Absolutely."-moreYour thoughts?

Of course. Had Dante written the Divine Comedy now, he'd have Journalists close to Judas.
Who else is responsible for not letting the world know of genocides across the world, that doesn't involve Saudi Money?
Saudi money is probably why the world paid attention to the falsity that is Kosovo and didn't give a crap about Africans dying by the hundreds of thousands in the Rwandan Genocide
Not credible. Netanyahu is smart enough to know that neither the NY Times nor Haaretz is really an "enemy" of Israel, and they certainly don't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Hamas and Hezbollah.
This is partly true. If an Israeli newspaper writes it, it must be true in the eyes of the journalists and the public. OK so far.
But much more detrimental to Israel are the Israeli politicians who bicker in the the international media about settlements, borders, Jerusalem and the Haredi Jews.
No one knows what Israel wants from the 'peace process' any more, even about Jerusalem the opinions differ and the media gladly fill the vacuum.

Certainly these two newspapers are not the biggest enemies of Israel, but they are definitely a part of "Team Enemy", of which Hamas and Hizbullah, the PLO, Israeli Arabs, Iran, Europe and Obama (to name a few from a long list) are also part, and that is a good enough reason to have their websites "neutralized", if you know what I mean.
The New York Times is consistently anti-Semitic in its distortion of the news and its publication of Thomas Friedman (who recently wrote that Netanyahu's warm reception in Congress was "bought and paid for by the Israeli lobby." Anyone who cares about Israel and the Jewish People should boycott the New York Times, both as subscribers and advertisers. Please spread the word: Boycott the New York Times!
Here in Toronto, the largest newspaper is the Toronto Star, which has been notoriously anti-Semitic since it's founding, well over 100 years ago.
For a long time there really was not an alternative paper and most of the Jews int he city were subscribers. The Star is also the mouthpiece of the Liberal Party of Canada, Trudeau's party, and the one that most of the Jews have voted for until recently. A double whammy, largest and read by Liberal Jews, anti-Semitic through and through.
About 15 years ago a new newspaper was started, the National Post, which is very pro-Israel and pro-Jewish. It took a while to gain traction in the Jewish community.
About 5 years into the publishing, I went to one of my clients, the community owned funeral home, Steeles Memorial Chapel, and asked them why they continued to make the Star and it's anti-Semitic readership happy by publishing their death notices in that paper. Paying that group seemed to me to be very very wrong. It almost forced the Jews in Toronto to buy the paper to find out when funerals were taking place. Since then most of the information has gone online (steeles.org)
The directors of Steeles decided to move the notices to the National Post, and the other funeral home, Benjamins, moved also.
No more Star in many Jewish homes!
Funny thing is I keep getting calls from them asking if I'd like a free subscription. My standard answer is "The Star is an anti-smetic rag, and I don't want it even for free." The best response from the caller was "Well, we're not as anti-Semitic as we used to be."
Vote with your dollars! Don't support the bastards by subscribing or placing ads. It may not change the way they work, but it will help someone who is more sympathetic to Jews and Israel. They are around, we just have to make the choice!
The press isn't an enemy of Israel, but (at least to me, in the US) it seems that Israel's path of self-destruction is fueled by an irrational (and impossible) goal of trying to make the Times like her.
If Israel would just do what she needs to do to survive, and completely ignore what the press says, many of today's problems wouldn't exist.
The NYT current leadership are avowed extreme lefties of the post USSR era. That after the millennium they became a most important provider of anti-Israel propaganda echoes their overt political conviction. The domestic anti-semitism is another category, related to german jewish - eastern european immigrant conflict that extends way back. (See Philip Roth's 'The plot against America'.) All this is underpinned by the sellout of Academia.
Hi... that was great stuff.. I really like reading on this subject Could you tell me more on that... I love to explore

The New York Times, Haaretz, as well as almost every other outlet GETS AWAY WITH IT BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT PUBLICLY CHALLENGED! The criticisms fly freely - SO SHOULD THE ISRAELI RESPONSES. TAKE OFF THE GLOVES AND CALL IT AS IT IS!
There should be NO BACKING DOWN! Netanyahu, and etc. should STATE OPENLY THEIR CRITICISMS AND CHALLENGES and CORRECTIONS. Forget being timid! Stop giving Israel's enemies carte blanche. And, publicize Israeli contributions to the world. Almost nothing positive about Israel reaches the general public.
I agree that this statement is at least partially true. At the NYT, we have our anti-friend Thomas Friedman, a wolf in a Jew-coat, who constantly takes the entirely wrong tact when analyzing the situation there.
Then you have Haaretz, which I don't read anymore, with a liberal bias that treats Israeli security as a non issue. The more important thing, is that Israelis don't protect themselves, so that Israel doesn't persecute the people trying to kill them.
However, you cannot discount the opinions held by individuals worldwide. Most people just hate Jewish people for being different than themselves, and that is not something a media outlet can ever really change.
