Today's Golden Oldie is from 1998.

The Wye Agreements:

"The Wye talks opened on October 14, 1998 and after 9 days of tough negotiations regarding the extent of the next stage of Israeli withdrawal, the Wye River Memorandum was signed. Israel would relinquish 13 percent of the land of which 10 percent would be turned over to Palestinian control and the rest would be turned into nature reserves. In return, Arafat agreed to take measures to prevent acts of terrorism against Israel, to apprehend individuals suspected of perpetrating acts of violence and terror, and to punish all persons involved in acts of violence and terror. It was also agreed at Wye that the Palestinians would collect all illegal weapons from the Palestinians and that the Palestinian police would be reduced from 36,000 to 30,000 men."

The Betrayal of Jonathan Pollard at Wye:

"Both before and again during the Wye summit negotiations in the fall of 1998, President Clinton promised to release Jonathan Pollard. Pollard was the deal-maker at Wye which enabled the accords to be completed.

At the last minute, with the eyes of the world focused on the Wye Accords signing ceremony which was about to take place in Washington, Clinton reneged on Pollard's release," -more

It's now thirteen years after Wye.

Which goes to prove that even American presidents renege on their undertakings and any guarantee given by a previous president, as in the case of Obama regarding Bush. As for the Arabs, to quote a famous Hollywood film mogul from 'der heim' who never mustered the language, "his void ain't vorth the paper its written on!"

Bones! It only remains for me to wish you a gut und gezunt yohr
and genuine peace for Am Israel.

The ultimate truth here is what Golda Meir said: "Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us."

And it won't happen until then. Sadly, it's still not true after nearly a century of hatred and warfare.

In your reference to 'The facts of the Pollard Case':

It would appear to be overwhelming evidence for his release on humanitarian grounds alone.

It seems to boil down to what we don't know. The 46-page classified memorandum delivered by Caspar Weinberger. What does Pollard know that makes him such a risk to U.S., Israeli relations, if we only knew and may never know.

Several presidents have now promised to free Pollard and haven't. What do they find out that we don't know, which prevents his release. He is a traitor and not a good American, but his time in prison has been excessive.

A "traitor" is someone who has committed treason. Something Jonathan has never even been charged with!!
Shana Tova to all,
and remember Jonathan, who has languished all these long years in prison because he is a Jew.

I wouldn't bet on that. Actually, this is one of those witticism that breaks down completely under closer examination. When people love their children, they want them to grow up in freedom. If the Arabs were sufficiently indifferent to their children to not mind their living in barbed wire-encircled refugee camps forever, there would have been peace decades ago.
