Double Standard
Every additional day that Jonathan Pollard continues to be in prison is proof of the double standard that is used against him. Every additional day that the Israel- Hamas War continues will bring increasing proof of the double standard that is used against us.I use "Mr. History" to guess at how the future will judge us....and speaking of the future, Happy New Year 2009!

Ex-Army engineer pleads guilty to spy charge
By LARRY NEUMEISTER
NEW YORK (AP) — An 85-year-old former Army mechanical engineer has pleaded guilty to conspiracy, admitting that he passed classified documents to the Israelis in the 1970s and '80s.
Ben-ami Kadish entered the plea Tuesday in federal court in Manhattan and is to be sentenced in February. A prosecutor says the government will not oppose a sentence that calls for no prison time.
Kadish pleaded guilty to only one of the four conspiracy charges he originally faced.
Kadish was accused of taking home classified documents from 1979 to 1985 when he worked at an Army base in New Jersey. The government said he let an unidentified Israeli agent photograph the documents in his basement. Those documents included information about nuclear weapons.

This one mystified me, Bones. Madoff and Rich are accused of doing things that are insignificant in comparison to what Pollard did. So where is the double standard? And why - if you think there is one - would there be one? Madoff and Rich are far more affiliated Jewishly than Pollard ever was.
If the US government had wanted to share information with Israel, they would have done so. It was not Pollard's job.
On the other hand, Bush is allowing two US border control agents to rot in jail for actually doing their jobs, while a known Mexican drug smuggler was given a complete pass in exchange for testifying against them.
That is a far greater mystery, for it seems the US, like Israel, is now letting third world countries dictate our domestic policies. I only wish WE still had the guts to launch military strikes against OUR unfriendly neighbor the way we did in the mid 19th and early 20th centuries.
Bush has already proven himself to be the worst and most unpopular president we've ever had and has already pardoned several rich cronies showing that money talks but loyalty doesn't count for anything.
FIRSLY IF POLLARDS NAME WERE BUSH,CLINTON,FORD,ROCKEFELLER,AND SUPER RICH WHITE ANGLO SAXON PROTESTANTS IN OIL THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN RELEASED 24 YEARS AGO.BUT BECAUSE HE IS A POOR MAN FROM THE JEWISH FAITH HE IS IN JAIL FOR 25YEARS ALREADY.
SECONDLY, WHY DIDN'T THE AMERICANS SHARE VITAL DEFENCE INFORMATION WITH ISRAEL??AFTER EVERY WAR IN THE MIDDLE EAST, AMERICAN DEFENCE OFFICIALS WERE ALL OVER ISRAEL TO GET THEIR HANDS ON THE LATEST CAPTURED MIGS AND NEW SOVIET EQUIPMENT.WHEN IT CAME TO SHARE EQUALLY WHAT ISRAEL NEEDED AT VITAL TIMES, THESE DEFENCE OFFICIALS WERE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND. ISRAEL SHOULD BE GRANTED THIS SUBSTANCE FOREVER.AND JOHNATHAN POLLARD HAS SERVED ENOUGH TIME HE WAS DOUBLE CROSSED FOR ADMITTING GUILT BY WEINBERGER ANMD I BELEIVE THE PROSECUTORS NAME WAS DEGERONOMO WHO ALSO DOUBLE CROSSED POLLARD. FOR PEADING GUILTY. WITH FLEA BARGANING HE WAS SUPPOSED TO GET A LESSER SENTENCE.THERE WAS A DOUBLE STANDARD.THAT IS AS CLEAR AS THE SUN COMING UP IN THE MORNING.THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST SHAM OF UNEQUAL JUSTICE IN AMERICAN JURISPRUDENCE.

I think that any Madoff-Pollard comparison is incorrect. It's not a case of cronyism, influence-peddling, or whose crime was worse; rather, President Bush has already given his "Jewish pardon"... posthumously... to Charles Winters, who was convicted in 1949 of violating a U.S. arms embargo for his role in helping send aircraft to Jewish fighters in 1948... and Winters wasn't even a Jew!
Perhaps, once President-elect Barack Obama takes office, there will be justice for Jonathan Pollard.
Spying on the US and treason should be punished severely and there is no reason to pardon J. Pollard. The US should be trying to prosecute those responsible for the bombing of the USS Liberty - mistake my as...
Israel is correct to defend itself and should be working to all out destroy Hamas in Gaza.
Regrettably, Madoff has a better chance of a pardon, though not yet convicted. I'd also expect, given campaign contributions, Pollard has less of a chance during Obama's tenure, big schlep notwithstanding.
