Rosh Hashanah
The High Holidays start with Rosh Hashanah, which begins this Friday evening, September 15 2023, and ends at sundown on Sunday, September 17, 2023.I'm forever getting into arguments with otherwise knowledgeable Jews in Israel who claim that Rosh Hashanah marks the date on which the World was created. Wrong! Rosh HaShanah marks the date of the creation of Adam and Eve and counts the 5784 years since that Biblical event. On the other hand it's hard to find a Jew here in Israel who would argue with my low opinion of the UN.
