The Very First Dry Bones

January 1, 1973
I thought it would be fun to show you the very first ever Dry Bones cartoon. The oldest possible Oldie"... published 4o years ago on Jan 1, 1973, in the Jerusalem Post. The two characters In the cartoon are chatting with each other but are facing the reader (I hadn't yet figured out the "profile" approach).
The two government clerks are each enjoying a pastry and a cup of tea (A traditional 10 AM tea break in Israeli offices back then). The two characters have remained an important duo in the cartoon through the years. Now, of course they face each other. One with glasses, the other with a mustache . BTW, to see the Jerusalem Post Magazine report on our anniversary click on DRY BONES AT 40.

With the absolute travesty that is going on over on our side of the world...this oldie couldn't have been better timed...we are about to turn over 1/3 of our economy to the wonderful government society that has brought us the caring of the license bureau...the ability to create a ponzie sceme and protect our retirement in a manner only Bernie Madoff would be proud...the work ethic and unionization only a United Mine Worker would be proud enough of to brag to Mom about...
Here's to the next 40, Bones! Thanks for always being spot-on!
As correct today as 40 years ago (not sure about the coffee/tea though).

The link to the Jerusalem Post 40-year Dry Bones retrospective does not work.
40 years already, unbelievable! Congratulations !!!
Sounds just like the 112th Congress of the United States. The most DO NOTHING group of all times. Then the president gives them a raise. If private industry were to run their businesses that way, they would all go OUT of business! Deadbeats given raises for doing nothing! Only in America.
