I was in Syria in Feb/Mar 1982, I can verify. The Christians and Sunnis I met in Damascus were all anti-regime. They were also, mostly, anti-US and anti-Israel.

For Israel, the only choice we have is to watch those fighting kill each other, and hope that the inncent Syrians will not be victims.

You better know we agree with you! Their religion tells them to ask for death instead of life. But WE are the Dogs and Pigs and the Great and Little Satan!
OUR G-d gives LIFE! L'chaim!!!

Thank you, Yaakov Kirschen!
Who would have thought 1945, that when nazism fell, and 1989, when communism fell, that what would come afterwards, islamism, would be as bad, if not badder?!

Those who don't agree with you probably hate Israel. Look how surprised is the media about 'democracy' in Egypt and Libiya. They just don't get it.

You're certainly not the only one with that opinion!

You're definitely not alone!

That Western mainstream media and political leaders are whitewashing this obvious truth is only an indication of how "clueless" the world has become.

Hi Yaakov, which of these statements do you agree with?

The Syrian civil war is:

A) A fight between Sunni Jihadists and Shiite Jihadists
B) A proxy war between the US (and allies) and Russia (and allies)
C) A fight between Baathists and anti-Baathists
D) A proxy war between the Syria-Iran-Hezbollah axis and the Hashemite kingdoms
E) A Sunni uprising against the Shiite ruling elite (and by the way mainstream Shiites consider Alawites to be apostates! You couldn't make this stuff up!)

I don't know about you but I get the feeling that whatever happens, whoever wins and whoever loses, Israel will get blamed. And whatever we in the west do or don't do will be the wrong thing.

As Anonymous says above - G-d help us!

The funny thing is, this situation shows the U.S. has actually learned a thing or two.

The U.S. is balking at giving Syrian rebels heavy weapons/bombs/rockets...because of what happened to the Russians in Afghanistan.

Those weapons will just be used against American assets when this civil war is over.
