the Bright Side

I resolved to do a funny cartoon for today. I drew it yesterday, but humor is a funny thing. Looking at it now, what seemed to me yesterday to be funny seems really depressing to me today.I decided to go ahead and post it, but I'd really like to know. Was it funny to you? Or depressing? Or both? Or ...?

Yes it is Funny and too true!
It's just . . . . . . True.
Ho boy...you hit the nail directly on the head but in a way that cracked this kid up. My sister took one look (she was a nurse at China Beach) and laughed 'til tears rolled down her cheeks. You, sir, are brilliant!
Sad to say, true, oh so true.
It seems that all American administrations are afflicted with this very serious malady; resulting in a very wry and funny cartoon.
Thank you mr. Kirschner!
BS"D No "thousands of friends" anywhere - not just Afghanistan! Now, THERE'S a shocker, eh?
This one is absolutely brilliant. It's funny, dry and wry, with a sharp barb that is the hallmark of the great political cartoon.
Too true. When comments cut close to the bone they're more painful than humerous. Almost the essence of Jewish humour!
It's the Hope & Change Obama style.
Almost a type of gallows humor.

It's funny *and* sad. What a world we live in, and you are good at showing it to us in a (relatively) painless way.
I think you got both true and funny in this one. What got me laughing was Mr. Shuldig's expression - smiling as he says over a very simple fact... but again leaving America with no good answer.
Yaakov,
I'm laughing with tears in my eyes.
So true, the great US, my birth place is losing it's reputation and soul.
I hope that a Democratic challenger for the Presidency will speak out.
I could support Republican or Democrat, but not the Socialist now ruling.
Both funny and poignant - and much-needed after the bad news of late. Thank you!
It is both sad and funny--which is often the basis for humor. It is also, unfortunately, completely true, in every respect.
It is funny. The sad thing is they can't leave there by boat ;)
Couldn't we say the same about Israel when they pulled out of Southern Lebanon? Didn't WE leave friends and allies there in the South Lebanese Army? Some of them live today in Israel, but a lot of them went to jail for "cooperating with the enemy".
When you go in, you're an occupier.
While you're there, you're responsible for everything that goes wrong and nothing that goes right.
When you leave -- very much the poorer -- you're abandoning your friends.
It's always a lose-lose situation.
Depressing. It was depressing/disgusting that America abandoned its allies and friends then, and it is now. It is ALSO teaching people around the world-especially the Islamic world a lesson. America cannot be trusted to carry through on its commitments, on a VERY personal level. I imagine you are aware of the horrific ways in which America's allies were massacred after we left Vietnam. I'm sure it will be the same in Iraq. The lesson is that if you support us, you and your family and your dog will be raped and tortured before you're all killed.
Funny and true, but I really hate to point out that the very same thing happened when Israel pulled out of Lebanon, and when many other countries pulled out of similar circumstances they were in. No?
Not funny but sad
Kind of like Lebanon I (which leaving in that style perhaps led to Lebanon II). Topsy turvy world, if we don't laugh, we will cry, so let's keep laughing... and praying.
Sigh...............
How can this be "funny"? It is sad, very sad and depressing.
The Bright Side cartoon is funny but sad. The US knows how to fight a war but not how to win.
Depressing but accurate nonetheless.
It's pathetic, but so true.
Like a fine wine you are, Bones.
The tragedy is that America DOES have many friends in Afghanistan. When the Taliban retakes the country, woe to our friends.
I think it is hysterical. And very true. Sadly.
Insightful and funny, i would say. Do you feel Americans would feel rejected by this? It was a no-win situation to begin with.
Okay, BUT what about Israel leaving the Christians in Lebanon to their fate (after they had loyally assisted Israel for years) as Israel unilaterally pulled out (Israel: hey Christians, have a nice day!)
FWIW - I really am pro-Israel! but ....
Carl, as an Aramaic-speaking Christian from Iraq I partly sympathize with you, but...
Remember the SLA was about 5,000 strong.
5000 out of millions of Lebanese Christians.
Thats pathetics.
The Israelis abandoned the Maronites after the Maronites had abandoned themselves to Arab nationalism, which is a cover for Islamic takeover.
Too many stupid Lebanese Christians, including many I know are pro-Terrorist.
If only Israel had helped the SLA, maybe, BUT IF ONLY US CHRISTIANS COULD HELP OURSELVES!!!!
It's depressingly funny.
