Egyptian Pro Democracy

Muslim Islamist Attacks on Christians in Egypt and the middle east : Dry Bones cartoon.
As America and the West observe the "pro Democracy" demonstrations in Egypt it would be well to remember that "Democracy" is not just about majority rule. It's equally a system of recognizing and protecting the rights of minorities.

Prior to the current outbreak of anti-Mubarak rioting in Egypt I drew this cartoon about the violence against the minority Christian populations of Egypt and the Middle East.

The occasion was recent murderous attacks on Egyptian Christians in which:

1. The Egyptians blame the Gazans:

Egypt: Militant group in Gaza behind church attack
(AP) January 23 2011
CAIRO (AP) — "An al-Qaida-linked group in Gaza was behind the New Year's Day suicide bombing that killed at least 21 Christians and wounded about a hundred outside a church in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, the country's top security official announced Sunday" -more
2.The Gazans blame the Jews:
Hamas blame Israel for Egyptian church attack
(Ynet) January 23, 2011
"Hamas published an announcement accusing the Mossad of being behind the New Year's Day suicide bombing that killed at least 21 Christians and wounded about a hundred outside a church in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria." -more

3.And nobody blames Islam or Islamism.

* * *
And now, back to watching the Egyptian street on Israeli TV.

There was also a short mourning period for the Jews following the Holocaust. We can trust the world to mourn if Israel were to be destroyed( which WE will not allow).
Sadly, though Jews have many true Xtian supporters, we see Xtian countries in South America and Europe rushing to recognize a new Moslem state which declares openly that it will rid the Middle East of the Jews and the Jewish State.
Xtian priests in Moslem countries have proclaimed that Israel is to blame for the declining Xtian population in Arab states.
The Pope has never raised a strong voice against these lies and the constant threat to wipe out the Jewish State. As during the Holocaust, the silence is deafening, and defining.
G-d will help Israel, I hope he will show no mercy to those who wish to destroy others be they Xtians. Arabs, Blacks, Whites or Green.

Hahahahaha, because Israel recognises and protects the rights of it's Arab minority... Hahahhaha

Anonymous, you have me puzzled. Yes Arabs and Moslems in Israel have the same rights as the Jewish and Xtian communities. They vote, sit in the Knesset and make laws, receive the same benefits as all Israelis. freely speak against the State, have News papers and media, get treatment in Israel's hospitals, work in the same and many other industries. HAHAHAHA??
What do you mean by that.? perhaps I missed your point?

Oh, the Jews don't make the Arabs wear a tag to identify them just like the Nazis did to the Jews? Of course not. That would be hypocritical.

loWOW!! HAHA anonymous. You are quoting sources that name Israel as an Apartheid State, who reported on the killing of a child which was proven false, accused iSRAEL of a Jenin massacre.. proven false the flotilla farce,
the destruction of schools where terrorists had their bases, Jerusalem never had a Jewish presence, etc.etc.
You obviously believe all this.
Was Judea and Samaria ever populated by Jews?
Do you remember that we spread aids amongst Arab women? Hamas claims we killed theXtians in Egypt. You didn't mention that source.
HAHAHA

I put my comment now back (correcting the reference):
Yes unfortunately the atheist "liberalism" in Europe makes it easy for those who try to(ab)use democracy implicitly to establish the Sharia. In GB some Muslims for reason of belief do not use alcohol for cleaning hands when working in hospital. Patients got sick/died. Concernig your point 3. I cannot totally agree. Russian pages complain equally about European liberalism and wrong attitude towards developments. There should be plenty of people in Israel who can translate, for example, from Russian this page:

To anonymous with all the links:

I just read your first link (http://www.jkcook.net/Articles2/0152.htm), and I just want to say that I am not justifying, or supporting those actions, whether they be true or false. What I want to say is this:

The few ruin it for the many. I just graduated high school, and one thing I learned is that when one person breaks the rule, the situation was ruined for the rest of us. For example in college we are not allowed to light candles in the rooms. Why? Because someone left a lit candle alone and his/her room caught on fire. The article talked about how the Arabs were treated unfairly, and it made people uncomfortable. If I kept being attacked by a specific group of people, I would feel the same way!!! After 9/11, what do you think happened in the US? How many Muslims lost their jobs, or started being treated unfairly, or lost "friends" (for if they were a true friend it shouldn't make them sever the relationship). My point is that this is not a Jewish thing, it is not an Israeli thing. This is a HUMAN thing. Blaming specifically Jews or Israelis for this is called a "double standard", and very unfair (even though it happens all of the time). We (humans) are animals, and want to survive. Therefore, we can become very suspicious, and unfairly so. It is unfair to blame Israelis as the only ones doing that, as it is a form of racism in itself. The same things happen in America, in France, in Britain. Again I say, the few ruin it for the many.

The article also described unemployment. Well, why are they unemployed? Is it because of racism and discrimination, or because they are unqualified? The article conveniently leaves this information out. It really pisses me off when someone who is unqualified is hired, just because of their religion, race, or gender.

Now as to your comment about Israel not recognizing and protecting the rights of it's Arab minority. As the person after you commented, yes they do have rights, A LOT of rights. Way more then in the rest of the Middle East. Would you kindly show me an example of where minorities in the rest of the Middle East have rights, protection, or any type of justice done for them? Please? I would be very interested in seeing an example... or two... if they exist that is.

IRV, why do you deny the use of the word "Christ" when referring to Christians?

Surely such a thing will only strengthen the fragile & emerging alliance between mainstream Christianity & Jews

What can the Pope do? He condemns the attack on Egyotian Christians and gets his effigy burned in Pakistan.

How many Christians would suffer and die if he declared his undoubtedly cear support for Israel?

The Church isn't stupid; being big mouthed isn't the way to do things when you have millions of Christians' lives in the Mid East threatened by genocidal perverted bastards who pick on any words the Pope says.

It's always easy to condemn someone who's beloved brethren are held hostage.

At 12:10 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I was being sarcastic about the strengthening alliance.

Please refer to us as Christians; we don't call you "Un-messianic Jews"

At 12:11 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

And along similar lines to Rebecca, thanks for raising the issue of Christians suffering.

I always make it a point to vigorously defend the only country in the Middle East that makes life free for Christians in front of my fellow Christians.

Xtian is shorthand for Christian. It has NO ulterior meaning. PERIOD. Do not be offended by it. A lot of people use it. Get used to it!

At 3:44 AM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh I've gotten use to it, but I don't let it wear me down.

In that case, if your intentions are benign, forget it.

I wasn't offended by the usage, but by the intention that I assumed of the usage.

You have every right to offend my beliefs, and I have every right to be offended.

The difference between us and them is that we're not going to start shouting verses from the Bible against each other in a threatening manner over our differences!

Absurd. The minority Christian populations of Egypt and the Middle East are being "driven out" in the same sense in which Muslim populations of the Middle East are being "driven out," in much greater numbers, and for the same reasons - violence and poverty. And the violence is much much more often directed at Muslims than against Christians, who are only a small fraction of overall immigration out of the ME anyway.

OK, who here cares to make a wager? Would you rather be a Copt in Cairo or a Arab in Gaza? The Copts get to vote, they are not systematically expropriated, and a lot fewer of them have been killed by the Egptian state over the last sixty years than Arabs have been by the IDF.

To the christian who was offended by the short form Xtian, no offense meant. Much simpler to type.
Have you noticed that many Jews write G-d. This is done so as not to destroy the name of our maker. By the way this is already a replacement for the name.
I hope that Jewish leaders will speak out loud and clear against killing of christins, I want the same from Christian leaders.
With respect.

Dear Yaakov, I respectfully disagree. Democracy is the rule of the majority; the majority over the minority with no protections of the rights of minorities.
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. A Constitutional-Republic where the rights of all are protected by limiting the government who would limit freedom.
People don't protest for democracy. They protest for freedom.
I look forward to hearing from you sir.

I assume "democracy" to be the Western model which includes (in my mind) protection of minority rights.

I guess it's a semantic problem.
I'll put in on the shelf alongside of the endless nattering about "when did the 21st century start, in 2001 or 2000?"

IRV, it's good to converse with one such as yourself.

In any case, I said I am not offended now, but you do have the right to offend me, and I can't say "you stop" - otherwise I'll be as barbaric as the Hamas and Hezbollah bastards.

I can argue, and we did, and you revealed to me a reason that some of my Jewish friends had already told me (I have a very small number of Jewish Orthodox friends). I am just surprised (as was one of my Orthodox Jewish friends) that would would have that rule for the Messiah too, but I guess you are simply respecting the Greek version of the word "Messiah".

On another point, I have more than one reason to call out any injustice against the Jews...

...your Jewish ethnicity and my Aramaic-speaking Chaldean ethnicity makes us distant cousins via Abraham.

Unfortunately, my people lost their chance of regaining their homeland, and now the Egyptian Christians are well on their way (the Lebanese? Perhaps they have lost).

In my limited power through speech and persuasion, I defend the last genuine, free & indigenous state of the Middle East, Israel.

I love the way that anonymous slams Israel for so-called discrimination and then fails to point out that each of the quotes are from Arab sources or newspapers that have a nasty habit of using second or third sources for blasting Israel. You are a coward, most anti-Israel commentators are. If you had a legitimate gripe, why not use your name? That is the problem with Islam v Israel.
One ignorant Moslem screamed at an Israeli "You can't take Jerusalem out of the Koran." The Israeli said, "That's true...it is nowhere mentioned in the Koran."
Mohammad never visited Jerusalem. It is of no importance to Islam. Yet Israel permitted the Arabs who did not run like chickens with their heads cut off to STAY in Israel. You are a Jew-Hater, you just don't have the guts to identify yourself.

There are a group of Christians who will do anything to "grab" a Jew and convert them. They LIE about the "blood of Jesus" being the only way that a Jew can make it to heaven.

I threw one out of my house who had lied his way into my home. As soon as he lied about Jesus dying for everyone's sins. Apparently he never read that each man shall die for his own sins. It's in Exodus and Ezekiel. And blood sacrifice was for unintentional sins, not sins that had been done deliberately, only REPENTANCE covered deliberate sins.

Looking back at history we find scores of men who were "virgin born" and wound up being declared "G-d." So what is new with Jesus?

I'm'not blasting all Christians, just those who who use lies to convert Jews.
