Swine Flu Fever

swine flu fears are growing, may affect Haj: Dry Bones cartoon.
By the "Fever" in "Swine Flu Fever" I am referring to the wave of flu fear washing across the Middle East. The upcomming pilgrimage of Muslims to Mecca may be a casualty:
"TEHRAN/JEDDAH — As swine flu fears are growing, Iran has banned `Umrah during the holy fasting month of Ramadan while Saudi Arabia ordered mandatory measures for pilgrims during hajj.

"We will have no pilgrims in Saudi Arabia during the month of Ramadan," Health Minister Mohammad Bagher Lankarani said, reported Agence France-Presse (AFP) on Wednesday, August 5.

He said Iranian pilgrims will leave Saudi Arabia before the start of Ramadan, expected on August 22.

Lankarani said restrictions will also be placed on Iranians going on hajj, expected to begin on November 19." -more

Meanwhile, here in Israel we're taking a much more "pro-active" approach. In order to stave off the H1N1 virus, a plane-load of kabbalists has circled the country, praying, reciting incantations, and blowing trumpets and rams horns (shofars) while aloft. The story, as reported in Ynet:
"On Monday morning an Arkia airlines plane took off from Ben Gurion Airport carrying rabbis and kabbalists and flew over the country in a flight aimed at preventing the swine flu virus from spreading in Israel through prayers.

The purpose of the flight was to "stop the epidemic, thus preventing further deaths," explained Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri whose father, Rabbi David Batzri had initiated the flight. "We are certain that because of our prayers danger is already behind us," he added.

During the flight the passengers blew the shofar seven times and said prayers intended for abolishing illnesses." - more

I hope and pray this does not develop into the pandemic that was predicted.
In the mountains where I live we have had no experience with it. Many friends have put off traveling for fear of exposure and in one of my favorite countries, Argentina, a few friends have been affected by it.

My 6 yr old son caught it. High fever, coughing, etc.

He was over it in 6 days, and luckily, none of the other members of our household seem to have caught it.

SYMPTOMS AND PRECAUTIONERY MEASURES AGAINST SWINE FLU' OR H1N1 VIRUS!

According to latest news around the world Swine flu is established worldwide. A number of deaths have been reported worldwid so far. Initially the disease, Swine flu infects pigs caused by the H1N1 virus then transmitted to human beings. It is not a new disease it was noted in past also. The deaths reported were between 50 million and 1 hundred million.

The main symptoms are - Headache, Fever, Soaring Throat, troublesome breathing, cough and body ache.

People showing flu like symptoms such as fever, cough, running nose and difficulty in breathing should be allowed to stay at home for a period of 7 to 10 days.

There is no need to worry a lot as the Swine flu is curable. As suggested by elders that prevention is better than cure, the following precautionery measures must be taken, to minimise the chances of getting infected with Swine flu;

1. People showing flu like symptoms such as fever, cough, running nose and difficulty in breathing should be
allowed to stay at home for a period of 7 to 10 days and consult your nearest medical practitioner
2. Avoid contact with the pigs (swine). If you have pigs in your area then please inform the local municipal office
so that they can take care of those pigs by keeping them isolated.
3. Keep a distance of minimum 6 feet from people affected with Catarrh, Cough and Fever.
4. Swine flu is communicable disease, so use the face masks to protect from the swine flu antigens.
5. Cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using one time dispoable tissue when possible.
6. Avoid shaking hands, embracing and visiting the congested places and also crowded places like theaters,
this can be a cause of spreading ground for Swine flu.
7. Wash your hands frequently with soap or diluted water of dettol at least 6-8 times a day to reduce the spread of virus.
8. Instruct the above points to children as they may be victimised easily with the Swine flu.
9. Avoid eating outside food because it may be contaminated and may make you infected with the virus.
10. Don't use the public urinals because many people spit there, which could lead to the spreading of the disease.
11. Use boiled water only to Drink.

Recommended, Homeopathy medicine Influenzinum 200 - 5 pills 3 times a Day.

I am glad to hear that some Israelis are trusting in their G-d instead of their earthly governments and the mass media. HaShem has promised to keep a remnant of his people Israel forever, and He will because He said so.
Here in Canada, Swine Flu has only killed 60 people, mostly adults over the age of 65. By comparison, our regular annual flu kills between 500 to 2500 annually. Cancer kills 64,000 annually. Compared to those figures, Swine Flu is nothing to be concerned about. I too will put my trust in HaShem!

MediaCurves.com just conducted a study exploring doctor’s opinions regarding the H1N1 swine flu. Results showed that doctors' level of concern has continued to rise, with more than half (58%) reporting that the HINI Swine Flu poses some level of risk for a worldwide catastrophic pandemic. For more in-dept results, please visit http://www.mediacurves.com/HealthCare/J7492-H1N1/Index.cfm . Thanks.

JimB makes a good point regarding the numbers regarding deaths. But perhaps 'we ain't seen nuthin' yet'

As for myself who has never received a flu shot in my life and as far as I know, never caught a flu though the occasional sniffles could be a low grade flu(or maybe just a cold), I seem to have a high resistance to cold and flues. However with all the news thrown at us, even I am alarmed enough to seriously consider getting a flu shot this Fall.

But I am paranoid enough to think there might be some awful side effect to this particular flu shot. That is why I am hesitating getting it. However all around me, people have made up their minds to get it and consider me foolishly reckless to even doubt for one moment the need for it.

Seems all the talking head experts are on the flu shot bandwagon.

What to do, what to do
me oh my.

People -- chill out.

Swine Flu is not the end of the planet. My 6 yr old just had it -- and we managed to get through it, without resorting heroic measures of CDC level 5 hazmat suits.

(And he didn't need any homeopathic medicine either.)

PS:
Anybody who thinks prayers are going to make any difference are delusional.

They tried that during the reighn of the Black Death(Plague) in Europe during the Middle Ages.

One thing I picked up in my readings, the Muslim countries were much less affected than the Europeans during that time due to their hygiene practices, Europeans thought prayers were enough while living like pigs.

I'm with West-Rhino. Wash your hands!

Young people who think they've caught the beastie are terrified because of the gov't hype - even though it's a mild illness. Of the 40-odd who have died in the UK, WHO labs have only confirmed one as having died solely from swine flu - the rest were so ill or compromised that, unfortunately, a cold might have carried them off.

In the UK, the gov't has been criticised for dishing out Tamiflu like sweets - not only is it harmful to kids, but the evolutionary pressure it and RElenza exert on the bug are making predictions of a later, worse wave a self-fulfilling prophecy.

PS I love the cartoon!

I've heard it is not the actual virus that is harmful, but pneumonia or similar that one may get after the flu has taken it's course. It is recommended to teach those that can in your family to be able to self-medicate if necessary with Robitussin and Benedril to be able to breath and rest. One report I've read, not sure if it's proven, says that even though one seems to be over it in 6 days, the contagious virus is actually alive 18 days, which is why it will be spread in schools and work places, they will return after a week because they feel better.

And we've all probably heard that getting the "antidote" vaccine is not good..

That and the fact they probably bathed more regularly. They were rather civilized compared to Middle Ages Europe with regard to personal hygiene. Too bad too many of them have not advanced in their thinking in regard to civilized behaviour since then.

Canuckguy, so did the Jews, and we were relatively unaffected by the plague, even though we lived in Europe.
Problem was, when the Goyim saw us still healthy, they blamed the plague on us, saying we poisoned their wells...

Swine flu is very dangerous disease. Its almost fatal. But there are lot of people whose swine flu is being treated by Homeopathic treatments and it has been very effective since homeopathy has no side effects, but disadvantage of that is, its effects can be destroyed by the effects of smoking, pungent smells, coffee, camphor or petrol smell. So one have to take care of.

Swine Flu: Yes, you are right.

homeopathy has no side effects...because homeopathy doesn't do anything.

If someone's in a high risk category, then they should take TamiFlu according to their doctor's recommendations.

Yeah Gab, the reason I did not mention the Jews was that they were stateless at the time. But I realzed they two had similiar hygiene habits. And for that, as you said, they were blamed for the disease, they became scrapgoats again. They just can't win.

Swine flu Vaccine link to killer nerve disease -- over 25 dead.

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter.

The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.

GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal.

The letter, sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29, is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications.

Fight swine flu by improving body’s resistance

Caused by the H1N1 virus, Swine flu is a viral infection affecting the respiratory tract like any other flu virus. There is no need to panic. Every once in a while, pandemics do occur and only the the person with weak immunity succumbs, which may happen with any viral infection. If swine flu is really that deadly, all the doctors would have been victims by now! There are flu viruses which are of innumerable types besides the H1N1.

Remember fevers and respiratory infections are in any case at their peak in monsoons and very few of them may be swine flu. Precautions to prevent being attacked by the virus would help in improving the body’s resistance.

It's important to know the difference between flu and cold symptoms. A cold is a milder respiratory illness than the flu. While cold symptoms can make you feel bad for a few days, flu symptoms can make you feel quite ill for a few days to weeks. The flu can also result in serious health problems such as pneumonia and even hospitalizations.
