Amnesty Researchers

amnesty : Dry Bones cartoon.
Amnesty International is a London-based "Human Rights" group which operates in 150 countries. On Sunday night it issued a 38-page report after what one assumes was extensive research into the Gaza War. Thinking about what that research must have been like prompted me to do today's cartoon.

According to Malcolm Smart, Amnesty's Middle East director:
"As the major supplier of weapons to Israel, the USA has a particular obligation to stop any supply that contributes to gross violations of the laws of war and of human rights. The Obama administration should immediately suspend US military aid to Israel," -more

And the fools in Washington --- none of whom I voted for, thank you very much! --- are going to give MY tax dollars to rebuild Gaza! Which, of course, means that Hamas will get the money it needs for more weapons. So when are the Saudis, the Syrians, the Iranians, or the Libyans going to kick in some cash for their poor, suffering NON-COMBATANT Palestinian brethren/co-religionists? Oh, I forgot, hell hasn't frozen over yet.

I know some people who just love a good rabbit stew, but there's always some who'll complain as their a Hare in their soup.
Sorry but I just couldn't resist.
Tell the first one I didn't vote for them either I'm in Oklahoma and we went republican as did Texas, the only trouble was we didn't have enough for our side.
Be well.
Shalom, Shalom.

This is exactly what I'm afraid will happen. We are now giving even more of our hard earned tax dollars to those who want to see us and Israel dead. And then, seeing what this administration has done so far they will most likely take Amnesty Insane-national's recommendation. Hashem said, "I will bless them that bless you and curse them that curse you"...we are doomed. There is a definite correlation between the way we have treated Israel these past few years and the problems the USA has now. Hashem bless Israel, Jerusalem, and her people who love Him.

Wow, this just makes me mad! Is not the U.S. already facing imminent economic collapse? "Hey! Let's give hundreds of millions of dollars to the terrorists! That's smart!" Maybe they won't be able to use it before the US dollar is dead.

Bones, you have to see how IRIS rewrote the Amnesty quote!

Bones, this cartoon is sub-par, and just plain silly. Amnesty International is a wonderful organization doing a wonderful, difficult job. Ever if you disagree, today's cartoon provides no insight whatsoever. Use facts to ridicule people you don't like rather then making things up which, if true, would have put them in a negative light.

(For the same money, you could have drawn them standing upside down while juggling bananas with their feet.)

If by calling for the destruction of Israel you mean "doing a wonderful job" then you are right.

You dont think Amnesty did that? Well, think again. By calling for a one sided arms embargo against Israel, that is calling for the destruction of Israel. How long do you think Israel will last without getting arms from the USA?

I think you're all full of prunes. amnesty and all the other bleeding heart liberal groups wanting to save the whale, spotted owl, baby fur seals, you name it! They're mostly college people looking for something to write a book about or, an angle for publicity to obtain funds to pay for their travels around the world.
People(humans) are the last thing on their minds. The situation in the mid east is even farther down the list!

Amnesty is *not* calling for the destruction of Israel. Have you read the original document? And do you know that Hamas has described it as being "biased" because in their opinion it is pro-Israel?

Do you know what the position is of AI on the wave of politically motivated killings in Gaza by Hamas during and after the war? Do you know that someone is trying to sell the notion that "the Israeli lobby" is controlling Amnesty International? That must be why they do not support the Palestinian side *enough* and keep criticizing them as well. Do you know that one of the former Presidents of the AI Israeli Section was amongst the victims of the British (brutish) academic boycott of Israel's universities?

The trial game keeps as usual being played in this war as well as in all wars. Amnesty International is trying not to became one of the players in the game that's all.

Anonymous: I've heard enough from Hamas to know that they would call anything biased even if it has the slightest comment against them.

Instead of the international community building up Gaza again, it's time for Israel to pay for the damage done. Hopefully this lead to no money for war again! Or do you think you have the right to bombard a country into the Middle Ages and come away with it without paying? And give the Gazans their water and electricity back again. Don't let Israel become a murdourous people again. Only peace is the way!

Anonymous: Says you. You are acting like the bombing was unprovoked. What about 7 years of missiles raining doing on Israel? Who fired that, I wonder? How about the kidnappings, the suicidal bombers, the TV programs of hate that they are teaching their children? Gaza was a beautiful place when the Israelis left. And guess what the Palestinians did when they came? Then burned it, destroyed it, wiped it off their 'precious' land because they couldn't stand to have anything Israel built there there. You can make the first 'payment' if you want, Anonymous, and then look down the gun barrel they buy with it.

I always love reading blog entries like these and the comments that procede them -- so uneducated of what organisations like Amnesty do and what their governance are like.

At the end of the day they are contributing a whole lot of good to the world, while staying apolitical, and non-religiously affiliated. So, while researchers put their lives at risk in an attempt to uncover the truth of gross human rights violations, fortunate citizens of Western liberal democracies will sit in their comfy little swivel chairs and fart out a drawing that reeks of uneducated bias. But it is that same freedom, a luxury we oft take for granted, and which you willingly take, that they hope to give to people denied it.

Anon (10:35): the salaried staff of Amnesty don't make much; at least, they make a lot less than what they could be making considering their qualifications and experience. Some Amnesty national offices have 5 people working there, and often in countries hostile to their existence. Other offices have an army of volunteers and interns who generously give up up their time and skills to promote what they believe is a common good, (this is excluding the International Secretariat); a good which should be extended to everyone.

The willful ignorance of people will never cease to astound me. But, then, it is bliss I 'spose.
