Reaction to Gaza

Reaction to Gaza : Dry Bones cartoon.
I must admit that I was angry when I did this cartoon. Angry at the demonization of Israel. Angry at the lies. Angry at the government's lack of planning for the "day after". Angry at the political curtailing of the operation.

So did the cartoon make you laugh? Or did the anger come through?

Or are you one of those who think that Israel actually did "mercilessly flatten all of Gaza from one end to the other"?

Coming home (to Beer Sheva) from Sderot last evening I know we did not flatten Gaza....the sky was full of lights in the many buildings still standing tall!
The cartoon didn't make me do anything but wonder why we stopped before the job was done!!

Goodness how true! Israel stopped too soon, whether from politics, world opinions or that idiot Obama being sworn in...either way, it will have to be done again and hopefully next time, FINISHED!
Praying for the people of Israel,

Do the WHOLE job. Dry bones - you got it right. Israel will be condemned once, whether it gets rid of one terrorist or 10,000 - so do it right already.

I also feel angry at the way Israel is being portrayed by the rest of the world and the fact that all the money being poured back into Gaza won't go to the people who need re habilitation but on more rockets!!!

When Operation Cast Lead began, I thought how my mother z"l would approve and be glad to see the terrorists (and also the "innocent" Gazans) get what they had coming...

I was shocked (okay, not shocked, since I do live in Israel and know what cowards we have running our banana republic) when it was just stopped without finishing. Thankfully, my mother is not here to see this huge mistake. She had been saying for years that the only way to fix the problem is to "carpet bomb Gaza" (she said this often to me, sometimes over the phone).

Thanks Bones for illustrating what we all KNOW is really the only way to handle this debacle called Gaza (and quietly, the Egyptian government and other neighbors would be applauding...)

King Solomon, supposedly the wisest of all men, should have known - if he had just listened to Daddy -

"Saul smote the thousands,
And David the tens of thousands -
The son of Yishay (David), lives on forever."

If you still don't get it, Solomon's Pa,King David would have flattened them.

King David understood, and nothing has changed.

In modern parlance, "In for a penny, in for a pound."

My thinking was Gaza would have made a nice parking lot.

For a Wal-Mart.

Salomon is growing old. At the time Salomon was a wise man, he used to understand the bad news was the world accepted Gaza, Hamas and all the poor Gazans children as completely destroyed and the good news was most of all that Gaza still existed.
If you are angry you can change good and bad.
I prefer Salomon on that newspaper guy.

you have spoken the truth we did stop too soon and probably for our own local politics and the man stepping into the whitehouse. but what you said between the lines is that we must abondon our galut mentality of even looking to what the reaction will be and get on with our own lives. this evil that no one in Europe or the USA or the rest of the world wants to stand up to, must be stopped. once again, as you say between the lines, it is up to us. it will lift our spirits not because of killing but because justice justice justice must be done and we are always the agents/fall guys to stand up against evil. to me that is what never again means. i truly have enjoyed from the outset what you say through your cartoons and what you write. kol hakavod

This is a "classic" Dry Bones to be saved for a long time. This reflects the story that Israel needs to learn. World opinion polls cannot be used to guide Israel's vow for survival and responsibility to save its citizens. The UN is more interested in Israel vanishing than in protecting the future of freedom and human dignity.

At 10:49 AM, Anonymous Joe said...

Israel's biggest mistake was in not turning all of Gaza into one big parking lot.
As far as "Anonymous - Diplomacy" The only diplomacy that Hamas understands is total power. If they are afraid of you, then they respect you. Otherwise they will try to kill you.

Bones, I am surprised at you!

In fact, I am surprised at anyone who is surprised that we didn't "finish the job" in Gaza.

I am also surprised at those who attribute the early end to Obama, the UN, etc.

It was completely obvious from the beginning that the war was started as a (transparent) election ploy. See this article, from December 29, that called it:

http://www.iris.org.il/blog/archives/2897-Israels-attack-on-Gaza-just-a-political-stunt.html

Of course the Olmer-Livni-Barak trio stopped the war too early for OUR needs. They did it for THEIR OWN short term electoral needs.

Fortunately, the were losing in the polls before the war and they still are. The public didn't fall for the ruse, or at least it didn't change their minds much.

It is time to "discern the times" and to realize that the Messiah is soon to come. Between now and then, Ezekiel tells us that it won't be a pretty picture. Do you think that Obama will create a 7 year peace agreement??

We are tired of all the mourning over Gaza. If Gaza wd stop the terrorists then they would live in peace w/Israel. I saw a story line about Gazan children going to back to school. NOT ONE on Israeli children going back to school. Another on Muslims now being able to worship again..NOT ONE on Jews or Christians being able to worship again...I hope the media enjoys their love affair w/Terrorists..it will only be a matter of time before they realize they are puppets in their nasty little game..
May HaShem bless you Bones, for telling the truth!

I agree with most of the above. Israel will be demonized regardless of what they do.
I believe they stopped too soon in an effort to pander to world opinion and Obama's inauguration. Another candidate would have thrown support behind Israel in the days leading up to the inauguration and Israel would have felt free to continue / finish the job.

I think your anger did come through, but I don't think that was a bad thing in this case.

I am neither Jewish nor Arabic. My practical knowledge of your middle-east is limited to maps and various writings. The closest I've been to your area is Hong Kong (and that was when the Brits were there).
But I'm damn upset your country didn't finish the job of wiping Hamas out. You've let our American President and molly coddlers steer your country to what they wanted. Believe me, the real thing they want is to sell merchandise to you all. The buck rules in this country. The people and decency for all thinking have become second class and are treated as Arabs treat their women.
Stand up, Israel. Let them hear you roar.

When the Almighty told a leader of Israel to to take and occupy a land, only those that put evrything to the sword and to fire succeeded, and those, like the current adminsitration, that felt they could have some accomodation paid the price.

I'll guess no one remembers Santayana.

We've now lost two wars, is Israel prepared to lose another and the country?

At 12:44 AM, Blogger David said...

I am slightly shocked... by the comments made. I think the war could have been managed better, greater parts of Hamas destroyed. But what people are saying, flatten Gaza, turn it into a parking lot, what about one and half million people living there? Should they all be killed?! Is this what you all are implying? I hope not!

Israel is being condemned. I agree we would be condemned no matter what we do. But that does not mean that we should feel free to do contemptible actions. We should continue to act with a high moral standard. We should judge ourselves, be able to look ourselves in the mirror and not be ashamed.

No other country has ever done so much to prevent civilian casualties, as Israel did in this war. Let the antisemites rave. We are better and we will survive.

What will Netanyahn do when he gets in office or does Israel need the leadership of Yisrael Beiteinu? I recall the Six-Day War and the Yom Kippur war in 1973---seems they were much more decisive in their ends. Is it the times or the leadership of Kadima. I think this current problem began with Sharon and Kadima beginning a unilateral disengagement in Gaza and the West Bank. Israeli must realize they are in a life and death struggle with radical Islam. If the Jewish state is overrun there will be no occupation, no reconstruction only extermination.

G-d gave Moses the Ten Commandments to give to "the rest of the world."

The "rest of the world" has been angry ever since.

"If we can get rid of the Jews we can get rid of the Ten Commandments."

G-d said "If you can make the sun stop shining, and if you can count the sand of the sea, then I'll forsake Israel." Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

See for yourself:
(From a Gazablog 30 januar 2009)
'F. tells me: "The smell was terrible. The food was everywhere. Very disgusting smell. They put
shit in the sinks, shit everywhere. Our clothes were everywhere. The last time they invaded [March 2008], it was easy. They broke everything and we fixed it. But this time, they put shit everywhere: in cupboards, on beds -- my bed is full of shit."

She is strong and has handled the invasions before, but the desecration of her house has got her down.

"A minute ago, Sabreen opened her clothing cupboard: there was a bowl of shit in it! They used our clothes for the toilet. They broke the door of the bathroom and brought it into our room. I don't know why."

The door lies sideways on the floor of her bedroom, which itself looks like a tornado has taken apart. "They took out my lingerie and left it lying everywhere," she goes on, listing the personal grievances which are more hurtful than the financial wreckage.

As F. continues to clear the soldiers' mess, she talks about her family's state of mind. "Abed [her young nephew] is very afraid, he wants to leave because of the zenana," referring the drones which fly overhead despite the ostensible ceasefire unilaterally declared by Israel on 18 January and violated by Israel since then.'

Your aggravation comes through loud and clear - and I echo the sentiment.

Here in the UK, the media demonises Israel to such an extent that I have been literally online all night a few times, trying to represent Israel in various online forums. The world is guilty of rank hypocrisy. No nation would put up with years of terrorism the way Israel did.

Please be assured that your anger is righteous anger - and that Jews around the globe share it!

AM YISRAEL CHAI!

@ Suzanne Pomeranz: radical people like you and your mother are the reason that there's no peace yet. don't you care at least a little for kids and women in gaza? israel killed around 400 innocent civilians in last month, yet it doesn't sound enough for ya, does it? geeeez. we can only hope israel will be punished for those war crimes soon.

@ Joe, Jonathan Logan: parking lot? you're not funny at all. you're ****** stupid. it's disgusting even to read most of the comments there...
