Today's Golden Oldie is from 1994. Thirteen years ago at the time of this writing. Back then, the Palestinian violence against Palestinians was a depressing revelation for most Israelis.
These days it's just the way things are.
* * * I think that part of the problem is that we in the West tend to forget that Democracy is not just a matter of holding elections. Democracy is based on recognition of minority rights and respect for the free expression of dissenting views. Democracy means Freedom of Thought, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, Freedom of Speech.
The Arabs of the Middle East enjoy such democratic freedoms in only one country. Hint... It's the one country in the region that every local potentate, king, terrorist chieftain, and dictator dreams of wiping off the map.
