There are conflicting reports about what happened.

Al Jazeera dutifully reports that:

but the anti-Israel propaganda brigade has quickly sprung into action:
Israeli Jets Deliberately Attack German NATO Ship
and:
Shades of the USS Liberty: Israeli Jets Attack Another Ally

While others see the incident as proof that
Judgement Day is Approaching!
