End the Turkification
Istanbul was the capital of the Byzantine Empire It was invaded and occupied by a Turkish (Ottoman) army on 29 May 1453. In 1930, a law was enacted in Turkey, according to which the city of Constantinople was officially renamed Istanbul. Hagia Sophia was a Christian Church which was converted into an Ottoman mosque on the day that the city was occupied (29 May 1453).
