Bombing Libya

No Fly Zone NATO bombing of Libya : Dry Bones cartoon.
After the West shamefully ignored the brutal crushing of the democracy uprisings in Iran we now have the bizarre NATO bombing of Libya.

It feels like somebody pushed the panic button and the region is being plunged deeper and deeper into chaos. Yikes!!

yes!
2012 is almost upon us!
islamists will take over the rest of the mi(U)ddle east and north africa then the rest of africa, europe, the rest of asia, south america and the border between mexico and the u.s. will still be wide open.
I still think that 2012 was the year in the MYAN calendar when the spanish arrive in south america.
so, you see, I'm still optimistic , , ,
Ha Ha Ha Ha

Yikes is right! I will never understand the purpose of picking out one or two countries to bomb to smithereens while leaving all the other countries which have far worse leaders, alone to reek even greater havoc upon their people. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Nor justification.

Excellent. But I would have added a third panel saying something like "... which when carried out by NATO is called a proportionate response"

you are identifying with the aggressor here! We can't use the heavy-handed tactics of NATO as a justification of our strategic defense.

if you are searching an explanation to the decision of bombing lybia you will find it in a map of the region
the political answer to the undecided fate of the egyptian people-forward true democracy or fundamantalistic islam-is the decision to intervene in the fate of the rebellion /revolution against khadafi and help the building of a fiendly country as a wall against the expansion of fundamentalism from egypt to north africa from one part and west of africa and the sahel region and the south of africa on other part
the new lybia with its low dense population and its large desertic regions will be less difficult to control from the economic and political angles than any other country in the region

If Israel was in charge of this operation, every bullet would be counted for and every bombing would be made a case for a war crime investigation. Oh boy, the hypocrisy of the international community!

It's only a "disproportionate response" when Israel does it.

Maybe the US and Nato pick the countries that are easiest to beat?

Let's see.
In Libya, bomb the government.
In Iran, pretend there is no opposition and bomb no one.
In Syria, bomb the rebels (that Bashar al-Assad has not already murdered)- we need Al Assad to make piece (sorry, peace) with Israel.
In Yemen, bomb the rebels since the US (thinks it) owns Ali Abdullah Saleh, despite the place being a haven for Muslim terrorists.
Protect the Saudi princes; Saudi still has oil reserves the US - and Europe - covets.
I'm sure this all makes sense to someone, but not to this scrivener.

Qadafi says he's going to wipe out everyone in Bengazi.
World's response: attack Libya to weaken its military's ability to follow up on its threat.

Ahmadinejad says he's going to wipe Israel off the map.
World's response: lets not rush into anything here...

The above statement is the cottect answer.

What's more - Security Council Resolution 1973 does not regard the no-fly zone as amounting to an occupation of Syria. Yet it considers Gaza to be occupied by Israel when it does the same thing.

Go figure this bunch of hypocrites.

Brilliant! The only thing I would have added is that the response is to protect civilians!
