On The Road (1991)

A Golden Oldie from 1991. Back then we were being promised a "New Middle East". In another month we'll have been on the road to that "New Middle East" for a full fifteen years!!

I drew Mr. Shuldig in an overly simplistic style to emphasize the overly simplistic idea of the "New Middle East". In the first panel Mr. Shuldig passes the palm trees of the deserts around us, then the cypress trees of Lebanon. In box five there's the tall buildings of Tel Aviv and in the final panel the shelling I predicted we would suffer through.
