Quicksand

Dry Bones cartoon: economy, recession, America, Europe, Uncle Sam, economic crisis,   2012
While Uncle Sam is trying to figure out what to do, Uncle Dry Bones is also looking for help. I need a savvy HTML, CSS programmer to do some work for the Dry Bones Project on a volunteer basis. The task is to write some code which will show the pages of a Dry Bones comic book at the proper size to fit the screen of whatever device it is being displayed on (i.e. ipad, pc, tablet, etc.) Each page is a separate gif image.

So while Uncle Sam tries to get out of the quicksand I'm hoping to get out of my mire with your help, if you know how, and are willing to give me a hand, please email me at blog@mrdrybones.com. Thanx

Mubarak

Dry Bones cartoon: Egypt, Arab Spring, Moslem Brotherhood, Islamists, Army, Presidency, Peace, Peace Agreement,  Mubarak, antisemitism, Jew-Hatred, 2012
One goal of the Egyptian Israeli Peace Agreement was to implement "normalcy" between the people of the two countries. The 30 years of the inability or unwillingness of the Mubarak government to encourage that "normalcy" is now bearing its bitter fruit.

Technology in the Fast Lane

Dry Bones cartoon: Shuldig, Technology, Computers, smart phones, iPad,   2012
Yup. You guessed it. I'm agonizing about whether and when to buy a tablet. And about which tablet to buy. And trying to restrain myself. Back in the early days of home computers there was a funny sales line: "Buy now before the price goes down again!"
These days the problem is that when I buy equipment I think that I'm buying equipment ...rather than something that'll be hopelessly out of date in a few years.

Spring Fever (1985)

Dry Bones
May 03, 1985

(1985) Dry Bones cartoon: Spring, King Solomon, Spring Fever, Shabbat, Holidays, Jewish Culture, Israel,
Today's Golden Oldie is from 1985.

Back then I did a special Dry Bones cartoon for the Jerusalem Post on Fridays. This is a Friday Dry Bones from May of 1985.

This week in Israel has been made of daily "half-holidays", tomorrow is a holiday, followed by Shabbat, and I've been hit by a goofy kind of stupifying Spring Fever

...when I came across this Golden Oldie from 1985, it "spoke to me".
Did it say anything to you?

The Seasons

Dry Bones cartoon: Passover, Pesah, Spring, Summer, Food, Holidays, Jewish Culture, Jews, 2012 src=
This morning I sat in the garden with the LSW (Long Suffering Wife).

We sipped iced coffees, enjoyed the gorgeous weather, and watched a couple of big noisy male Blue Jays flapping around in the foliage of a tree. Were they battling for the "favors" of some unseen (to us)female?

It's Passover, it's Easter, the world is in bloom! Spring is in the air.
...and summer looms ahead!

(1998) Dry Bones cartoon: ADL, Pollard, Jonathan Pollard, 1998, America, American Jews, Prisoner Release, Prisoners,
Today's Golden Oldie is from 1998. Their silence after 13 years of Jonathan's cruel and unusual punishment was despicable.

Fourteen more years have gone by.
After twenty seven years they still remain silent.

Pollard is Hospitalized

Dry Bones cartoon: Jonathan Pollard, Pollard, American Jews, U.S.A., Prisoner Release, Prison, src=
Today's offering is an attempt to get a smile in a sad cartoon. For it to "work" you've got to read the punchline with a "Jewish accent".
